A co-pilot, not just a service provider

Keeping accounts up to date and filing returns on time is essential. But what makes the difference for a business owner is having someone who really knows their file, anticipates, and can turn figures into decisions — and who explains the French system in plain English.

That is Hexaconto’s purpose: a firm on a human scale, founded by a chartered accountant and statutory auditor with over twenty years’ experience, committed to continuity of follow-up and to the quality of the relationship.

  • An identified contact who follows your file from one year to the next.
  • Rigour on accounting, tax and social compliance, with a calendar planned ahead.
  • Practical advice to structure, hire, invest, pay yourself and manage your cash.
  • Clear communication in English: meetings, emails and explanations of your accounts; statutory filings remain in French.
  • Modern tools: paperless exchanges, secure space, automated pre-accounting and bank entries, always reviewed by a professional.
  • A lasting relationship, based on transparency and a clear engagement letter.

How we work together

A clear method, to get off to a good start and move forward with peace of mind.

  1. Introductory meeting Free and without obligation: we get to know each other and frame your needs (activity, organisation, deadlines, expectations).
  2. Tailored proposal You receive it promptly, usually within 2 working days once the relevant information is gathered: it sets out the scope, level of follow-up and fees. The engagement letter is then signed online.
  3. Set-up We organise the takeover of the file, access and tools, with your previous firm where relevant.
  4. Follow-up and steering Accounts, returns and advice as your decisions arise; progress reviews on request.

Frequently asked questions

How much does an accountant cost in France?

Fees depend on the work your file requires: type of business, frequency of your VAT returns, volume of transactions, employees and additional services chosen. Our estimator gives you a first order of magnitude in a few questions; after a first conversation, you promptly receive a written proposal, formalised in an engagement letter. Estimate your budget and see how we set our fees

Can I change accountant during the year?

Yes. You can change at any time, in line with the current engagement letter and the profession’s rules. We contact your current firm to organise the takeover of your file smoothly. The simplest option is a change at year-end; during the year, a supplement for the year-end accounts is usually provided. Read our guide to changing accountant and work out your change date

Do you work remotely?

Yes. Our office is in Paris, but many exchanges take place by phone, video call and secure document space. We support clients throughout France. Book a video meeting

Do you support new business owners?

Yes, as soon as your business is registered (Kbis for a company, Sirene registration for a sole trader), or while registration is under way: review of your tax and VAT options, accounting organisation, first deadlines, then the director’s remuneration when the time comes. As soon as you choose us, we review with you the options taken at incorporation: it is therefore best to choose your accountant quickly, so that any adjustments (tax regime, VAT…) are made on time. For a simple incorporation, you can complete the formalities yourself, free of charge, on the INPI one-stop shop; for a more complex one, a lawyer is the right contact. See how we get you started after registration

Is a French expert-comptable the equivalent of a CPA?

Yes, it is the closest equivalent. In France, the regulated accounting profession is the expert-comptable (chartered accountant), registered with the Ordre des experts-comptables: the role a CPA or chartered accountant plays in other countries. Hexaconto is a firm of French experts-comptables, registered in Paris; we do not hold the US CPA title. See our services

Are your documents in English?

Statutory filings must be prepared in French. We provide explanations, summaries and, where needed, reporting in English.

Can you deal directly with our head office?

Yes. We regularly exchange with group finance teams, controllers and auditors, in English, to deliver the figures and explanations they need. See our support for subsidiaries and international entrepreneurs

The forecasts, cash-flow plans, dashboards, simulations, studies and analyses mentioned above are additional engagements, à la carte. Each one is quoted in advance, at the frequency you choose.
