Catching up on late accounts in France

Accounts or tax returns behind schedule? We bring your books up to date year by year, then keep them current, within a single engagement letter.

Free introductory meeting, with no obligation: getting to know each other and scoping your needs, at our office, by video or by phone.

Accounts often fall behind because the business comes first. A methodical catch-up regularises the situation with the tax authorities, social security bodies and the court registry, then gets you back on a sound footing.

How the catch-up works

  1. Introductory meeting We review the years concerned, the letters received and the documents available.
  2. Engagement letter Scope, timetable and fees, year by year, after receiving your identity documents.
  3. Handover Documents retrieved from your previous accountant where relevant, and requests for extra time where possible.
  4. Books and returns Entries and matching from your records, tax returns.
  5. Annual accounts Accounts and tax returns for each year, ready for approval.

Why a catch-up takes specific work

Each late year must be prepared as if it were done at the time, with the rules and information of that year: rebuilding the history from bank statements, applying each year’s rules, ensuring consistency from one year to the next and regularising pending returns.

That is why a catch-up is quoted year by year, within your engagement letter together with ongoing bookkeeping.

What we take care of

Accounting

Entries and matching for each year, from your bank statements and supporting documents.

Tax

Pending tax returns: VAT, corporate income tax and other taxes depending on your situation.

Late payroll, social filings and corporate secretarial work (approval of accounts, filing with the registry) are not included in this engagement.

Fees from €1,800 excl. VAT per year to be brought up to date, depending on volume and the state of the documents. Each year is invoiced and paid at the start of the work on it, as set out in the engagement letter.

Once your books are up to date, we keep them current so the situation does not happen again. See our fees

Frequently asked questions

How long does a catch-up take?

It depends on the number of years, the volume of transactions and the availability of documents. A timetable is proposed in the engagement letter, year by year.

Why does a catch-up cost more than ongoing bookkeeping?

Because old transactions must be rebuilt after the fact, missing documents traced, each year’s rules applied and pending returns regularised.

What if I have received a formal notice?

Send it to us quickly. It sets the priorities and, where possible, allows us to ask the authorities for more time.

Some invoices are missing: is that a problem?

Not necessarily. Bank statements are the starting point; we tell you which documents to look for first and how to handle missing ones.

Can the catch-up be ordered on its own?

We offer it as the first step of ongoing bookkeeping, which is the core of our work: both are in the same engagement letter.
