Liberal professions practised in your own name in France pay contributions on non-commercial profit, including health insurance, family allowances, pension, CSG and CRDS.
Before setting your rates or accepting an assignment, it helps to know what you will actually keep.
What the simulator calculates
- Detailed social contributions
- Net income, before tax
- Income after French income tax
- Monthly or annual figures
- The effect of different fee and expense assumptions
The simulator covers practice in your own name (non-commercial profits), excluding micro-entreprise. It does not cover professional practice companies. For regulated professions, order fees are not calculated: add them to your expenses.
Covered by the Cipav (architect, psychologist, osteopath…)? Use our Cipav simulator. Micro-entrepreneur? See our micro-entrepreneur simulator.
This official simulator is provided by Urssaf, the French social security agency (mon-entreprise.urssaf.fr). It loads from its website when you start it.
Indicative result, based on the figures entered and the rules known to date. It is no substitute for professional analysis: check your situation with a chartered accountant before deciding.
What next?
The simulator gives an order of magnitude. Bookkeeping, actual expenses, VAT and the 2035 return need year-round follow-up. See consultants and service providers
Frequently asked questions
Where are pension contributions paid?
It depends on the profession. Regulated professions have their own fund (the Cipav for architects, psychologists or osteopaths, for example). Other liberal professions are covered, for pensions, by the self-employed social security scheme.
What is the difference with the micro-entreprise?
In a micro-entreprise, contributions are a percentage of turnover, with no deduction of actual expenses. Here, they are based on profit, after deducting your expenses.
Does practising through a company change contributions?
Yes. In a company, contributions depend on the director’s pay and status (treated as employee or self-employed). See our SAS president and self-employed director simulators.
Must I charge VAT?
In principle yes, unless the VAT franchise applies because income stays below the threshold. Enter your fees excluding VAT in the simulator.
Are the results reliable?
The simulator is kept up to date with French social security rules by Urssaf. It gives an estimate: your pension fund, insurance contracts and personal situation can change the final figures.
